Are we back to the mainframe era?!
Sounds like we move backward a great deal to go a few steps forward. So with this thin client thing, what happens to all the horse power PC's have built up over the past decade? This monolithic cloud will be filled with lots of issues especially in developing countries in the 3rd world where power and internet connectivity are huge issues. So what happens when on my 'thin client' I experience a power outage and I do not have anything to work with online until power is restored, which could take anywhere from a few minutes to days. I appreciate the control the cloud gives to I.T pros but what about the guy that wants good old 'standalone computing'?
