I think the point
is that you need an influx of knowledge, otherwise you're just recycling what's already in the company. If you bring in people who know less than you, they will gain knowledge from the experience, but the company gains nothing. All the current knowledge simply becomes more diluted and stagnant.

If you hire people with skills that are needed, however, both they and the company will gain from the process. This is the most productive way to handle hiring, I feel.
