I agree - definitely not a very objective crowd!
Finally, someone brings some sanity and "REAL" life experience to this "long hour debate" from the point of view of a manager.

Well said!

Everyone should realize that their absolutes about a manager working long hours are only a sign of a lack of objectivity. I know, I know, the previous statement was an absolute but, at least, I put some thought into it, which is more than I can say for some of the people posting to this forum.

It's amazing when someone makes the "statement of fact" that "managers that work long hours are incompetent!" That is so utterly ridiculous, it is almost laughable, that one would make such a comment and believe they are being objective. They make the comment as if there is no other possibility. Did they ever think that maybe the manager likes her job? Or maybe the company financials don't support additional employees? Or maybe the manager is just plain "committed"? What about "work ethic"? I could go on and on.....

You know, I CHANGED my mind, "I AGREE, all managers that work long hours are incompetent, including me!" How about we start a new thread and we call it, "Do you think that people who believe that managers that work long hours are incompetent - are incompetent?" I'll be the first to answer: YES!
