I'm proud that
my time is well compensated. If someone tries to convince me to work on salary I refuse. My thinking is if my first 40 are worth x than each hour after 40 should be worth at least my hourly wage. I worked for salary with absolutely no overtime and could live with it. Worked hourly and guess what most of my employers (startups and government) didn't want to pay overtime because they were on a tight budget, so again little overtime.
A little overtime every once in a while to help boost your standard of living a bit is okay but if it is constant your standard of living isn't that great anyways since you are "living" fewer hours and likely too tired to do all the things you can now afford.
