While I admit that I constantly feel like a dinosaur in this area, reputation does matter. There are several people that I work with that have quit, then found out the grass was not greener and came back. If they would not have exited with professionalism then they would not have that option. I also know a recent employee that left on very bad terms. There is absolutely no chance they would ever hire him back. As people come and go here his reputation will spread, and eventually limit his opportunities. Which is what it is all about, not limmiting your opportunities. While acting professionallly may take some personal control it does not cost anything, so why not?
You say no one cares about reputations - does this mean you don't try to act with professionalism on a daily basis? How about common courtesy? If your world is all about the dollar and nothing else, I'll stick to mine.
