SSD is an interesting thing
They present to the system like a standard SATA platter drive so in that way. One may be able to use it in the same way as platters unless the processor in-between does more than just present SATA on one side and manage the flat wear pattern on the storage side. I don't know how they work in detail but if it has a firmware it may also be at the same risk as any other firmware space.
The other question may be what malware could do from within the nand chips or would it only be able to go active once passed back through to the Sata bus.
