The most useful application was talking back and forth over our C460 Zerox typewriters(memory writers). You could buy them with built in modems, but I added mine later.
Later on I used my laptop to do the same thing with a purpose built module to communicate with the Zerox machines, using a program called SCOM. It was a nifty arrangement. I had the local Zerox reps scratching their heads, wondering how the heck I got it going! HA!
