Easy if it is saved as a docx file. Open the docx file using 7-zip or possibly even Winzip.
Navigate down to the \\word\media\ directory within the docx file and your images are there. Advantage over the HTML method is that the images are in their original size/resolution, not compacted as in HTML, unless you change the picture size in Word Options->Advanced->Web Options dialogue box.
