RE: Microsoft attempts to redifine the tablet with secret Courier device
Bill, I think your survey above is missing one huge point. I don't know if Courier will be a big hit with business users, and who cares? I think Courier will be a huge hit with consumer users. Consumer markets, especially women sectors, have been hungry for consolidated technology solutions that help modernize home management as much as we've modernized business management for a long time. Courier is exciting because it demonstrates the possibilities and opens the door for a whole new category of devices! At some point, we will have to move from PC on every desk to something else wherever we are, and it is exciting to see Microsoft lead the way on this. While smartphones are fighting for the market share of business users, it would be a shame for Microsoft to lose focus of their greatest asset ? productivity tools for home and business, and relinquish consumer market to the likes of iPhone tablet, etc. I think MS will continue to be the leader in personal computing (mobile of course, what else is there in our future?), as long as they invest the effort into understanding their users as much as they understand their customers and focus on capturing new markets. Thanks for the post! My 2c.
