For whatever reason I formatted my HD so that C is 30GB. It is nearly full with programs and updates. There's a 60GB empty partition in the HD. I want to extend my c: drive.
Is there a way to capture all or a portion of that partition and move it to C reliable without data loss?

My OS is windows 2003 and also the system partition is out of space and need to be expand. I searched partition magic in google and found the partition master alternative. WoW, It solved my problem just by dragging and moving on the disk map. So easy to use.
The price is cheapest. As I know, Acronis is about 700, paragon is about 300, but this SW is only around 100, even free for home users.
anyone has the same problem, see this article, I have bookmarked http://www.partition-tool.com/resource/resize-Windows-Server-2003-partition.htm

If the empty partition is next to the partition that you want to expand, you may simply delete this partition and use diskpart command line to expand C.
If you do not want to delete this partition or this partition is not next to C, you need to use third party tool to resize and move the partition.
See this guide, it may help you http://www.hdd-tool.com/partition-magic/resize-windows-server-with-partition-magic-software.htm

Unlike Windows 7/Vista/2008, the snap-in Disk Management in Windows 2003 couldn't support extend/shrink volume. In such case, the only way is to reformat the drive, reinstall the Windows Server 2003 Operating System and repartition hard drive.
What's more, the Diskpart Command Line can only extend a data volume when there is contiguous unallocated space.
Therefore, it is a wise and good choice to expand C drive for Windows Server 2003 with the benefit of third-party software.
