linux, unix, *bsd, etc users not only like to customize everything but they like to figure out how to do everything. People like this are why the internet even exists. The bottom line is although MS makes a good OS for ther people it directs to, some of these people should never be allowed to own a computer in the first place. If you want something that does everything for you, then go get a maid, butler, researcher, food chewer, etc and let them tell you how well your life is going or failing as well. All most people that contribute to open source are saying is, for the very least, keep the respect and support for the developers of the machine that made you the bucks.
