My problem is the following. I installed printer locally, on 2008server, shared printer and enabled internet printing. All works fine. When I try to connect to the printer from XP client (http://"server"/printers/"printername"/.printer) it does display the printer and I am able to connect to the printer BUT all the settings on the server such as Printing Defaults, Printer Preferences, Location, Comments is not sent accross to the client.
The issue seems to be that 2008 installs drivers on the spool folder as per normal and on a new folder DriverStore. If you install a printer via SMB it picks the fiels from spool files but looks like if you install printer via http then it picks files from this DriverStore. When you config the driver the .cfg is only written on the spool and not the driverstore.
Have you add any experiences with that?
