Acronyms are bad for non-techs
I agree with kapspaz-itprof: A big rule of business is to SIMPLIFY communication. That being said, there is a sub-rule to it: Avoid using acronyms whenever possible. The IT industry is relatively immature, and the excessive use of acronyms muddles the clear exchange of ideas. I often cringe when reading articles and white papers, seeing so many acronyms that a non-IT person would be hopelessly lost. I believe a big part of communicating with those outside our "guild" is to clarify and define acronyms.
