Use Copy option to copy your Existing Profile into the new profile (Give the profile name as you like) and remove the old one.
Its a simple trick...you don't have to play with registry.
Control Panel-->Mail-->Show Profiles-->Copy (Enter the name of the new Profile which you want) and then delete the old one.

I've had to use the 'copy' tweak before to recover a corrupted profile.. and it's faster and simple
Cheers..

According to this article by superuser , of UK:
http://www.technotes.co.uk/rename-outlook-2003-profile
" ... copying [the Profile] causes it to redownload all mail again, pain in the arse if you have a large mailbox .. "
The article then echoes Brad's instructions for editing the registry key.
The only addition I would make is to make an export/copy of the registry stub before changing any registry key data.

Go to Email Accounts button, leave View or change existing e-mail accounts selected and click Next. Click Change. Click More Settings. The name of your profile is in the box under Mail Account. Change it there. I believe that accomplishes the same thing.
I guess they are running out of good articles this time of the year.
If you could indicate what you liked or disliked about the post I can use this feedback in the future.
albeit a little tersely - that you published an article that involved Registry changes when there is a perfectly simple alternative that is a lot less likely to trash the operating system of the less careful user and he wasn't really impressed with that.
I have to admit that I read the article with a certain degree of amusement rather than any other emotion. But then my hobby is schadenfreude and my perspective is somewhat warped.

A big THANK YOU for mentioning how dangerous editing the registry can be. It's become almost the first thing folks recommend these days to change of fix anything.
It's almost never mentioned these days how dangerous that can be. I very much appreciated your specific warning and recommendations on what to do before editing the registry.....

OK, so I sense the sarcasm in the response. I will create a post to address this.
Select copy, and highlight the original
it will present a box to create the new name
check mark "prompt for a profile to be used" so you can test the new profile
When satisifed, go back and delete the old profile and check mark 'always use this profile"
