Oops, I take that back. Last time I tried it wasn't, but it is now!!
You get paid for this? (Mind you I triple checked before I wrote this comment) the title of this article is "How do I install and configure Microsoft Security Essentials?" .. Where the heck is configure information? Last Screen shot 14 has lots of things to configure, Like the exclude file types, exclude file locations, excluded process, advanced functions .. I read this article to see if there is anything I might want to change on mine system and why.. SO dispointing article.
I give a example of things to Configure, like exclude in file types, in theory I assume it makes it faster to scan the whole computer, however I don't watch as mine is set to scan in middle of night.. another configure option. But I exclude, .log files, .txt file, .jpg, .png, .gifs, why scan files that wont have a virus? I bet some of your got lots of lots images.... why waste time scanning them? I probably could put in .avi , .mp4, .mp3 in there too but i have not did that at this time. Same with .ISO. since normally they are HUGE files and a copy of totally something person created, no need to keep scanning a .iso file. This is a example, what i expected to see in this article with a title of "how to install and Configure MS Essentials"

My personal preference is to set MSE to not scan it's own files in the file and location exclusions. I then add exclusions for log files and the like. I don't exclude image files since there have been several exploits that used specially crafted image files to take control of a computer.
You might want to check Microsoft's KB #822158 which is for their Forefront client but most of which applies to MSE as well.

Ridiculous. Would someone like to come visit me in Virginia and hold my hand while I install this software?
