I'm more into the hard core and action scifi, like
Old guard - Asimov, Heinlen, Clarke, Niven, etc; new guard - Weber, Moon, McCaffrey, etc - love McCaffrey's Pern series with the dragon. Yeah, real hard core scifi with dragons.
