You need to be able to specify which models you will and won't support and ensure that information is communicated throughout the business units.

You also need to set a standard for "best effort" if you are going to support every model out there.

The biggest hurdle is trying to handle everything up front. If you can set a standard and get buy-in, then the rest becomes "easy"

BTW Lazy IT is responsible for some of the biggest innovations out there. Never underestimate the power of lazy!
