We are a nation of immigrants. My grandparents: 1st generation came legally (I think) imported to work the sugar planation. That work/pay sucked, 2nd generation: bought and worked a farm. 3rd generation me: in IT (my sister a rocket scientist). No food stamps or welfare. The decision to leave everything you know and to immigrate must be a tremendous one ... I believe all immigrants are highly motivated and have the stuff to succeed. Question is, how to weed out those motivated by quick drug money, or the easier route of our welfare state.
I'm just glad gramps and grams were gutsy enough to make the leap to the good ole USA.
