The Tougher Distro
Ubuntu is the simplest and most popular distrobution of Linux. The installation is simple for desktops and will install on over 90% of new computers. The reset would be server related since the server side of Ubuntu has NO GUI built in.

Others claim Mint, Fedora, and OpenSuse are simple versions as well suited for business type machines.

Tough Distributions would be slackware, Gentoo, and many other smaller packages that require setup procedures during the installation.

The command line?! If you find a package that isn't prepacked for the distribution, then you will need to use the command line to install the program or even to run it in some cases.
