Mint is great
I am a big fan of Ubuntu but for the new User, Mint is excellent, very new-User friendly, nice simple package manager and 'Wine doors' is cool as a way to attract Windows Users.
I know this to be true as I have introduced two Windows Users to it over last few months and they are still using it!
One even replaced Vista with Mint (he loved Vista amazingly!)
I do agree with others about the command line though, I use it myself and find it very useful but you must not mention it to Windows converts!
It turns them straight off.
You must bare in mind that most are brought up never having seen the cli in Windows, why would they want to use it in Linux?
