The resurgence of the command line
The command line is still relevant to today's GUI-dominated computing. For many serious IT professionals, it's a chore to have to take our hands off the keyboard, navigate to this icon, right-click, wait for the dropdown menu, move the mouse...etc, etc. The flexibility of Linux is the command line where simple tasks can be performed with minimal effort: command -args [Enter] DONE.
GUI's are nice, but they often encumber administration. This is why Microsoft has FINALLY come around to offer a command-based server OS (2008 Server Core). The day the major linux distro's "bury the command-line" is the day I switch to Unix.
