But GUI or not, I don't usually leave the keyboard unless I absolutely have to. It's a matter of efficiency. It might take a while to learn the keyboard shortcuts, but once you know them, you're saving time by using them.
The best example is office applications; you're wasting time if you don't know the standard keyboard shortcuts.

The same applies to print, underscore, cut, paste, copy, and many other commonly-used commands. I don't remember the last time I saw an office application for Win/Lin that does not use the standard Ctrl-[B/P/U/X/V/C] commands for these common functions.
