This is more and more becoming the norm. Many of my utility CDs also boot using some version of Linux. It's less expensive than Windows and, in my experience, much more reliable.
You could boot to the CD and use it to back up your Linux installation, but the TrueImage Home program itself only runs properly in Windows and is optimized for backing up Windows (NTFS/FAT) drives.
