This is how I have seen badly hacked windows servers. Last "maintenance" was to delete all the temp logs that no doubt the hacker made to cover their tracks. Rotating logs leaves a paper trail which can be picked through to look for intrusion/hack attempts and find out (perhaps) what happened so it can be prevented from happening again 5 minutes after fixing it.

Personally I don't want to "influence" microsoft. I'm happy for them to carry on making insecure rubbish that bogs itself down and self destructs every 6 months. Makes me a nice bit of cash on the side.
