Oh, bootable UFDs.
It seems that everything (in general, not just rescue media) I want to make into a bootable UFD requires tortuous methods. I never pick an easy one, apparently. Even the ones made with Unetbootin required extra steps, but I guess that's just how I roll. 
I'll have to try out some of the distros you mention to see if they are any easier. It is a rather good list.
