Hello guys,

I am battling to install XP either sp2 or sp3 on a HP Pavilion dv3525ef, i tried going to BIOS to disable SATA mode, unfortunately it is not listed there. I goggled for this problem and most suggestions is to use a USB floopy which i don't have, i am thinking of downgrading the BIOS for this Notebook but i don't get it on HP website. If anyone managed to install XP on this kind of notebook please help.
I have been the all day struggling and the only thing i get is a BSD.

Please help.

why

would you want XP if you have a Berkley Systems Daemon [ BSD ] installed?
downgrading to unstable, insecure from such a rock solid os is nuts.

to install xp, you need the original install disk, boot from it and completely wipe the hard drive.
[ just to make sure no bad settings pollute new install ]

once you follow the limited installer MS uses, reboot into newly installed system and RUN THE UPDATES to get the service packs.

Ohhh. BSOD!

You need the O. In this case, it makes a big difference.

What message does the BSOD display? Without that, we can't do more than guess at your problem.

BSD Error Code
Dolphin111 10th Jun 2010
The BSD error code is 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034)
I read i some post that SATA drivers is needed. The post though wasn't so clear as to how to go through this procedure. Any idea on how i can accomplish this?

Please help
Given that both requests are worded identically, I'm assuming this is you: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=105919.0

If you have the XP install CD and the drivers CD, start the install again. Very early in the install, you will see a message "Press F6 if you have to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver." Insert your drivers CD and wait for the drive to initialize. Then press F6 there and follow the instructions. After you've installed the SATA drivers, re-insert the install CD and continue.

This page - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103 - is the MS page for the error you are receiving.

Yes that's me desperately looking for solution.

Are u suggesting that after pressing F6 i must immediately remove the Win XP Installation CD and insert the drivers CD?

Because what happens as u are ware is that after pressing the F6 key, it takes time before one is prompted to install the drivers, because windows XP continues loading files.

If i follow the normal process i get to the point where i am prompted to press S and when i do that I get the following massage
Setup could not find a floppy drive on your disk.
* Press ESC to cancel loading OEM
drivers
* F3 to quit setup
Well that because i don't have a USB Floppy drive.

Is there any way i can install these drivers using a boot able CD? without using a floopy disk?

How many times are u suggesting i must press F6?

Please help.

drivers CD

After you hit F6, when it asks for the drivers, have you taken out the XP disk and put in the drivers disk?
XP install instructions are unclear. I would think that the XP install disk installs what it needs before you install the drivers.
I hope this gets solved.
