Okay, for what it's worth. Descent 1, 2 and even 3 were my Favorite game(s) of all time. It was fun to play and, without the blood bath of Wolfenstine.
I know, Adventure/Colossal Cave came earlier but the Infocom games were the best of their day. In the graphical era, I would add the first sidescrolling Duke Nukem, Myst, and Nox, which I still play occasionally.
Please get your facts right before posting comments like these ...

Halo is a First person type action Shooter, and Civilization is one of the original God type strategy games ...
... actually, you have covered 3 major gaming genre - Adventure , Strategy & Action Shooter - all of which any long-time gamer would have sampled at some time ...

I like X genre and I also like Y and Z.
Just because Y and Z are in the same sentence as X doesn't mean they're related.
Also, "God type strategy game"? Turn based strategy would have been acceptable, what you gave is just..
