It does nothing for games. PS3 games don't look better and they aren't bigger. In fact, Blu-Ray's slow read speed means that developers have to use the extra space to duplicate data across the disc to speed up access times.

The future is digital download. Blu-Ray is the main reason that the PS3 is languishing in 3rd place because of its $600 starting price-point. Sony killed the Playstation brand to push yet another failed format.
