Sony/Philips? Really?
"Blu-ray Disc was developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association, a group representing makers of consumer electronics, computer hardware, and motion pictures." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc

"The "Blu-ray Disc founder group" was started on May 20, 2002 by MIT and nine leading electronic companies: Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG (Lucky GoldStar) Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, and Samsung[2]. In order to enable more companies to participate, it announced in May 2004 that it would form the Blu-ray Disc Association, which was inaugurated on October 4, 2004." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc_Association

Sony and Philips are NOT the only ones with their fingers in blu-ray land, the second link shows there are dozens of companies involved, between the board and contributors.

It possibly would be more correct to say that with Microsoft having nothing to do with the Blu-ray development, that the chance of Blu-ray drives being added to the 360 are very, very slim. However, considering my laptop is NOT made by Sony or Philips, and it came standard with a blu-ray drive, made by Hitachi-LG, then I'd say blu-ray on non-sony products is not only possible, but already here.
