So are you one of the procrastinators? Are your peers procrastinators? Have you recently updated to Windows XP SP3 because of the lack of support you are now getting from Microsoft. If you are still using SP2, why are taking the risk?

The poll results show there is still a large installed base of Windows XP SP2 PCs out there - as an information technology professional responsible for making sure your organization's systems are secure does that make you a little nervous?

SP3 is not the bugaboo that it once appeared to be. C'mon people - keeping Windows PC's at least marginally up to date can only help your customers avoid malware. Keep in mind as tech support you will inherit these problems if you do not help your users protect themselves.

It requires you to reselect your windows update settings... Well this machine doesn't have a keyboard on monitor. Its remotable only. So If I apply that update, the computer is effectively dead till I find a monitor.
My company recently began pushing SP3 out using Patchlink. Windows update settings are controlled via group policy.

If you don't use group policy why is Remote Desktop not an option for administering this workstation?
I know some people who started drinking Natty Light in college, and they still do to this day. I think its the same principle.

I took my organization totally away from Windows. We've installed Linux throughout the organization and haven't looked back, or regretted it one bit. The employees just love it. We saved one machine with XP-2 for the off-chance there would be something we couldn't run on Linux. We love the cost savings we have garnered with the switch, even after the training expenses.
