is that FOSS of any popularity usually have ports to just about every OS currently in use, allowing the user to choose the OS they prefer because the apps they use will almost certainly run on it.

Thus, since all the apps I use are FOSS, I am free to choose an OS with an excellent package management system and am not stuck with Windows or OS X.
