Mine Works Great!
My sleep mode on my Dell XPS Studio 1540 works fantastic. I did a side-by-side install of Ubuntu 10.04 with Windows Vista. The sleep mode is far faster and more reliable than that of Vista.
Basically, after 3 weeks of use, I have found nothing I cannot do that I currently do in Windows (well, not entirely true, I love Zuma's Revenge and there is not a Linux version of that). Actually, the Ubuntu install has been like a breath of fresh air compared to any version of Windows I've used.
The package management system mentioned in the article is indeed, first rate. It's also quite addictive. I found myself at 9pm one evening, eyes red, installing packages like some sort of heroin addict or something.
I think my big thing is I don't have the time or desire to fight the operating system when I want to do something. I want it to "just work". Ubuntu is the first desktop OS that has ever really fit that requirement.
Am I pleased? Oh yea.
