The 7-year old wireless NIC forum post was not mine, I was referring to one I read from a frustrated user.

And, the point I think he was trying to make is that even wireless cards that have been on the market for 7 years are still not supported in linux, let alone new wireless cards.

I bought a wireless card that was on a list of linux compatible cards, with a driver that is supposedly in the kernel since 2.6.30, and it still is completely undetected by Ubuntu 10.04 which runs 2.6.32.
