I don?t see the point. Techrepublic is targeted at pro users and these users are always the less prone to stupidize their OS with eye-candy cpu-hogging useless-things, we preffer clean, fast, stable Win/Linux systems, and for many of us a command prompt is enough to get the work done!! Please kill the guys of Windows Blinds (joke!).

at one time or another. I do change the XP icons for My Computer and the Recycle Bin to the older style icons, which I like better.I've also probably used all the apps mentioned, as well as others, to create my own DLL files full of icons for later use.Nice to see all the tips in one spot. I could have used those back in the day, rather than figuring out the more arcane procedures myself. But then, i wouldn't have learnt as much.

allows my computer to appear in the Folder Pane of Windows ExploderI rarely ever use the Desktop Iconsthey're just put there during Program installsand I don't bother to delete themthe two major Audio editing programs I have, are programmed in such a way as to dump the RAM held when minimized, which might be fine for something else but corrupts huge files,so when I have one of the editors open, I never see the desktop, but I always have a windows exploder open and can access my computer from the top of the folder treeand all the windows exploder shortcuts open with: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, /n, D:\as I never use the "my junk" folders, because, I still use the file management skills I learned from DOS / Win3.10and with document history turned off, the .lnk files are never created,so the start menu "my junk" folders would always be empty anywayMake the elements your desktop shortcuts.shortcut to Oxygenetc.that would be funny, but, I don't have any way of making the table click-able though
