This Diagram is the preferred view for Network Topologies. This is the exact same format that I use in my work. I am an Engineer with over 20 years in this field. Even though the other with their 3D perspective are nice to look at they do nothing for being informative.

The 3D views are for those stupid managers who know nothing about the business excepts to make our life more difficult.
