and that is how it flys in "right-to-work" states, where the state is your union. Pretty common in the midwest. I've worked under that system, and I like it very well!
It made life interesting, as you never knew who was going to quit, and made me relieved when I could just quit and find a better shop.
The only "loyalty" I showed was when I had enough respect for the company to give them two months notice, so I could train the next guy.
