I worked on NCR mainframes from the late 70's to the late 90's. When something didn't work, you could always get a memory dump and figure out what the problem was.

Now, with PCs and Windows, everything is so big (and bloated) it is hard to follow.

We used to be able to get a lot done on a system with not a lot of horsepower and 16k of memory. Now, you need huge amounts of memory and CPU power to get anything done.
