I've forgotten what the real world is like,
we get a new platform,it is booted from a "live CD" and burned in for 240 hours with batteries of tests. This may seem extreme but in the last 2 years we have weeded out device mortality issues and failed platforms to zero incidents.

Once a platform is verified "compatible & acceptable" C:\ with all of it's misery goes to the bit-bucket in favor of our OS.
