In all the years I have been in IT, I have always called this garbage 'ShovelWare' - particularly when CDs were first included with PC magazines because they felt the need to fill all this available space so just used a 'Shovel' to bung any old garbage they could get for free.
The same applies to new computers with huge hard drives and an end-user with, apparently, no say in the matter.
