I've had a few people urge me to just try it. I've played around in Slackware, and feel pretty secure with it. The trend, from what I've read, with Ubuntu appears to be attempting to mimic MS Windows as much as possible. While that may be good for many home users, I've questioned the security, especially when the default doesn't allow for easy access to root, or even to the CLI. To me it seems Ubuntu must be undermining the inherent security in Linux if one is advised to run a browser such as FireFox in a protective cover like AppArmour.
Thank you...maybe I'll just stay with Slackware.
