If I got my mother's MS Windows replaced with something more secure and stable -- which I might, if I'm ever in her neck of the woods long enough to do so (she lives several states away from me) -- I'd make sure she knows where to get an installer in case she ever buys a new computer. I'd also tell her that if she wants my help with her computer again, and the help she wants is with malware on an MS Windows system because she went back to that, she's on her own.

Mom isn't paying me. I can afford to be a little less tolerant of her making bad choices like that, especially since I know she doesn't do anything with her computer at home that isn't trivially supported by any major desktop OS.

Of course, something else I'd do if I had that kind of time in her neighborhood would be to set up a backup server for her too.
