I don't consider untested, unsupported hacks a good way to attempt mission critical tasks, such as printing. Using well-tested third-party supported apps that are proven in the field strikes me as a worthwhile solution, especially when I see it improving productivity and efficiency in the field every day.
Some day the iPad will support printing natively. Maybe next month. But when the item published that wasn't an option.
