Just tell them the clock is still ticking
... and that they're paying for the explanation. If that doesn't work, give them what they asked for - a detailed, blow-by-blow account of what's happening. Then remind them that *they* are slowing things down and costing their company twice - once for your extra time & secondly 'cos the system is out for that much longer happy
