Having played with one...
It's actually impossible to hold up to your face to use as a phone, but since I rarely do that with my normal phone, I don't find that a problem.

The solution is to use a bluetooth headset - with that, you dial using the on-screen dialer (like a normal Android phone) and then you can put it away in your pocket.

It's a phone by definition that you can make a phone call (unless you're in the US, because the carriers suck), but it's not a traditional "hold up to your face to make a call" phone.
