First of all, it looks fruity and secondly it looks absolutely disgusting after a few days of handling. And I'm just talking about note/netbooks now.

Think about the finger grease these tablets will accumulate since you HAVE to smear your fingers over it the whole time.

I really don't get glossy ... please manufacturers, get your head out of where the sun don't shine.

Cleaning
Oz_Media 25th Nov 2010
It's easier to clean a glossy screen, as it is less porous it wipes clean and doesn't absorb solvents and detergents in cleaners which can fog and make IR input even worse than it already is.
From the video, the responsiveness seems a little slow.
But my expectation from Acer is very competitive pricing, not leading edge stuff. As for glossy, I like it, just need to wipe clean regularly.

$1500
Oz_Media 25th Nov 2010
Expected to start at $1500. Which is about half the cost of some other touch screen notebooks/tablets.

The absolutely ass-reaming high prices were the downfall of pre-iPad tablets.
It amazing and nice new style in line of table PC. But how is the quality and performace?

Who is it that you try to attract with this?

Sure as hell isn't me.

Why not, Santee?

We are living in a world of tech toys, and this one actually DOES something for a change.

I mean yeah it's not fantastic or anything, but at least functional and still pretty cool. A bit pricey but that'll drop just like all electronics prices, certainly lot cheaper than others I've seen, even though not rugged or anything. Price point in around $900-$1100 wouldn't be bad though and I'd have to see what battery options will be made available, like the docking part too, just when I thought docks were dead!

Long-awaited?
tehpea 25th Nov 2010
My newsletter read "long-awaited tablets"... please, don't make me laugh. Since when is anything made by Acer long-awaited?
I find the Iconia is a really forward thinking device, but poorly executed. The glossy screen is prone to fingerprints, damage and scratching. From the demo it looks really slow and the touch sensitivity is weak. The product I am waiting to see is a decent attempt at building the courier which Microsoft axed.

There's an almost identical thread running parallel to this one. Of course sans the expertise of the great Jason Hiner.

This has potential, even at $1500.00 it is less than half the price of some other tablets, mind you I don't think I could drop it from 30' onto concrete or wash it off with the hose like some others.

I see you've been studying maketing for a long time but still don't have a clue on how to market a product, good show!
