AV comparatives...
still gives Avira huge points for its thorough definition based scanning engine, however they seem to discount the ability of heuristics to stop the new threats.

I've had many a client get tagged running Avira because it was simply too slow on the draw in recognizing known threats.

On the other hand, I've seen Avast pound unknown threats into submission, and quarantine them based on heuristics alone. I've never been let down by Avast - and now I use the paid version. IF it puts an unknown threat into quarantine, I simply let it sit there until a definition gives a true ID, and then it either lets it go or destroys it.
