While I LOVE to be using the latest and greatest, I do tend to wait until the 2nd generation is out (for hardware) or the majority of bugs have been worked out (software).
And sometimes you need to be deploying new things to people who will use them on a regular basis to REALLY test the paces in your company. Occasionally, that means putting it on a physical computer.
I do, however, agree a lot with the "let someone else get it hot off the press and burn their fingers..." method. Works for me
