"targets like power plants means that we *need* to pull the plug."
Targets like power plants should not be on public networks.

The whole thing with the kill switch, on the bad side, is that it is just another control tool. On the "good" side, it is just a crappy band-aid for lazy, stupid organizations who still, after years of this "cyber" "attack" idea, not to mention the constant everyday break-ins, unauthorized access to data, etc., these "critical" systems have done nothing to protect themselves.

No, teh prez does not get a kill switch. The mil does not get a kill switch. But don't worry, telecom has been doing all sorts of illegal favors for the gov, and will continue to do so. They can manufacture any threat or enemy they want, as they have done. Transparent and a trial later? Yeah, right. Show me Bush in chains. Show me Cheney's head on a pike. Show me Obama improving on this behavior. Actual people are still being killed over these idiotic actions, but you would expect some sort of transparent accountability for turning off the internet? Come on, now.

Times of "crisis" (and who decides?) are exactly what the law is for, not when law should be suspended, and it needs to be a better, more restrictive law.
