Are you talking about the SP 1 update for Windows 7 or are you just talking about Windows 7 in general? It sounds like you might mean the latter.

In which case, you should be able to access 'Show hidden files' in "Folder and Search Option" under the "Organize" menu option in Windows Explorer.

If I have missed the mark here, then I apologize.

I installed it on a out the box Dell E6410 and I had no problems to speak of. I'm yet to install it on my personal laptop. That would be a better test.
