Don't blame you. My experience wasn't quite as bad. Several years ago my Dad shot a bunch of pigeons that were basically rats on his roof. He always hated waste. So he tried cooking them.
The consensus was if you got the just matured yearling (Dad called it the Squab) it was OK. Still not what I would eat if presented with other options. But if I had to I could eat them again. Maybe stew them with LOTS of veggies and spices.
